Baseless news on 2000 rupee note

The news that it has been decided to stop printing of two thousand currency notes and hence these currency notes will be stopped in bank ATMs is baseless : Nirmala Seetharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sita Raman stated that no order has been issued to withdraw the two notes from ATMs of commercial banks. She also said that the news that it has been decided to stop printing of two thousand currency notes and hence these currency notes will be stopped in bank ATMs is baseless. The finance minister made this clear in a meeting with the heads of public sector banking. In the recent past, news has been released that banks have decided to do away with Rs 2000 currency notes and to benefit people by keeping smaller denomination notes. Also, the news has also emerged that it has been decided to withdraw two thousand currency notes in a phased manner. Earlier, Indian Bank had overloaded ATMs with Rs 200 notes. Also two thousand currency notes were not loaded in the ATMs. But the bank clarified that if the customers can come to the bank branches and exchange currency notes of two thousand rupees, they should also deposit two thousand notes in the bank branches. The loading of two hundred currency notes is also announced. Customers can withdraw these premium currency notes at bank branches if required. Also, the bank has made it clear that two thousand notes should be deposited in ATMs as well. Bank has issued that from March 1st, instead of 2000 notes in ATMs, 200 notes will be available in their bank ATMs. Banking representatives announced that this decision was taken after the merger of Indian Bank with Allahabad Bank.
